LA BIENQUERIDA 2020 IN THE TOP 100 WINES OF SPAIN BY THE AMERICAN WINE CRITIC JAMES SUCKLING
For the sixth consecutive year La Bienquerida enters the list of the 100 best wines of Spain of the American wine critic.
La Bienquerida 95 points and 43rd place on the list.
Deep, yet bright, perfumed and floral nose at the same time, showing intense, spicy blueberries, golden berries, violets, lavender and an intriguing hint of white pepper. A medium to full-bodied palate, full of fine, fresh tannins. Powdery and velvety in texture. Really delicious now, but can also hold up.
Four wines from Bierzo have been chosen by US wine critic James Suckling in his list of the 100 Best Spanish Wines
- Nº 22 DESCENDIENTES DE J. PALACIOS BIERZO LAS LAMAS 2020
- Nº 43 LOSADA VINOS DE FINCA MENCÍA BIERZO ALTOS DE LOSADA LA BIENQUERIDA 2020
- Nº 77 DESCENDANTS OF J. PALACIOS BIERZO LA FARAONA 2020
- Nº 82 SANGARIDA GODELLO BIERZO LA GUIANA 2020
In his article, the critic makes a very positive reference to the evolution of Spanish wines:
Spain's evolution from old-world linearity to new-world opulence is evident in our list of the country's top 100. Its move away from traditional recipes and conventional winemaking has resulted in more drinkable gastronomic wines. With the release of new vintages, such as 2018, 2019 and 2020, the JamesSuckling.com tasting team has seen rich, beautifully luxurious and concentrated wines that deliver freshness and often surprising details. Spain's top winemakers have been at the forefront of this stylistic revolution, delivering three 100-pointers to our top 100 list, out of the total 2,800 wines of Spain we tasted throughout the year.
